01 PET LOVERS CENTRE REDESIGN
2022


PROJECT OVERVIEW: The main objective of this project is to make the original Pet Lovers Centre VIP Concierge app more user-friendly and useful. Through user research and interviews, the team was able to identify the pain points of the current users. These problems were converted into opportunities for the app. The final deliverable includes an app with a revamped user interface, various usability improvements, and additional features.

PROJECT CONTRIBUTIONS: I aided with Heuristic Evaluations of the existing product, and was tasked with generating Personas and their Empathy Maps based on data acquired after research to gain deeper insights into user actions and understandings. 

I also helped with wireframing and prototyping the solutions the team came up with.



COMPETITOR ANALYSIS: We first started with identifying and organizing the different competitors PLC faces in the market. PLC has several competitors. They are defined into three main categories: a) Large Chains, b) Small Stores or c) Online-only.





USER RESEARCHHEURISTIC EVALUATIONSTo better identify and understand our target audience, we came up with a list of survey questions based on demographics and platforms used. Additionally, we identified the target audience and came up with a list of requirements in order of importance and commonly purchased items.We also evaluated the current app through Nielsen's Heuristic Evaluations, identifying several issues of varying severity, along with 3 suggestions that provide quality of life changes to address said severities.


PERSONA GENERATION & PAPER PROTOTYPINGHaving acquired the necessary information and solutions, we set off by generating personas using data collated, as well attempting to address issues identified during the interview process. We also started on paper prototypes to quickly generate and come up with solutions.





LOW TO HIGH FIDELITY PROTOTYPINGAfter additional testing to verify design choices, we moved on to digital low fidelity prototypes for additional testing. Further iterations also included the updating of text, icons and colors based on a style guide the team developed.

FINAL TESTINGAdditional testing with the low and high fidelity prototypes verified that issues faced by the target audience, such as a lack of proper loyalty service, incomplete service offerings and so on were addressed.
